Guile and Salesforce

Opportunities, and what people write on tasks, events, logged emails and notes, read-only.

What Guile reads from Salesforce

Guile reads your opportunities, accounts, contacts, tasks, events, notes and logged emails. The connection can do anything your Salesforce user can, including changing records. Guile only reads, unless an admin turns on changes in connected apps (each one waits for your Confirm).

How to connect Salesforce

  1. If you are not a Salesforce admin, ask one to install the sign-in partner's app first: in Setup, type Connected Apps OAuth Usage in Quick Find, choose Install next to the sign-in partner's app, then Install again.
  2. In Guile, open Apps > Add an app and choose Connect on Salesforce.
  3. In the secure sign-in window, continue to Salesforce and log in.
  4. Review what Salesforce lists and choose Allow.

If something doesn't work

  • Salesforce shows an error after you log in (it mentions OAUTH_APPROVAL_ERROR_GENERIC or says the app must be installed): ask an admin to do step 1, or to connect for you.
  • The sign-in partner's app is not in the Connected Apps OAuth Usage list: have a Salesforce admin connect instead. A standard System Administrator can approve it while connecting.
  • Salesforce says access is not enabled: your edition needs the add-on above, or your user needs API Enabled. Your admin can check both.
  • Some deals are missing: Guile sees only what the person who connected can see. Connect again as someone who can see those deals.
